Gen.G, seemingly had the greatest understanding. Despite being arguably outclassed mechanically by Team Brax, Gen.G's defense often seemed impregnable and their offense would steam roll through teams caught off guard. Michael "MkaeL" De Luca's Cypher play was masterful, and the information he gained allowed Gen.G's defense to become a brick w
The tournament was chock-full of excitement, with no shortage of head clicks and insane clutches that kept viewers on the edge of their seats the whole way through. But it wasn't just the crazy plays that made T1's tournament so significant. The community learned a lot about VALORANT as an esport through watching the game's top talent square off. Here are five of those things that we lear
Sova is an archer who has a purchasable drone that he can fly around the map to locate enemies. This makes peeking around corners far less dangerous, and the drone has the ability to mark enemies and reveal their location to teammates. Sova also has a recon bolt that recharges over time and can be used to locate enemies. Wherever the bolt is fired it will shoot off three pulses and reveal the enemy's locat
The new undertakings by Riot Games are varied in terms of the scope of the games it wants to bring to the table, although many of them take place within the established world of Runeterra that is the home of League of Legends . Whatever else it may be, Valorant does not seem to be one of the games that will take place in Runeterra, as the footage and screenshots that have already been leaked or release seem to depict a more modern setting than the medieval/arcanepunk that Runeterra has most often been shown
Players like sinatraa and brax, who were both high-profile signings, did shine but so did lesser known players like mouseSpaz's Yassine "Subroza" Taoufik and Prospects' Ryan "Winsum" Johns. It's possible that the rush for organizations to start bidding Truck Wars Mod over big name players may be misguided. It could prove beneficial for teams to do their own scouting, and sign lesser known players for less mo
Sova - A hunter who marks foes and then takes them down with a bow and arrows. He can fire a bolt that explodes in an area for damage, or launch a flying camera drone that can fire a dart to reveal enemies. His signature move is an arrow that emits a pulse which tags and reveals nearby foes, while his ultimate fires three powerful, wall-piercing shots across the entire map. Reveal foes, then blast them from anywh
It still remains to be seen whether or not Valorant will put Riot Games in direct competition with Blizzard in the hero-shooter market. Riot Games is already poised to compete with Blizzard on a different front, with its Legends of Runeterra card game already in open beta and eventually to be in the same market as Hearthsto
Spycam is Cypher's final ability, in which a Cypher player would attach a CCTV to any wall or item that is within his range. The Spycam allows Cypher players to access its perspective, allowing him to see what the camera sees. It also provides Cypher with a powerful Marking Dart, which when fired from the Camera onto an enemy allows Cypher to see the enemy's outline from any point on the map. Making it a powerful recon tool in the right hands. Be aware, when using the Spycam, it becomes visible to the enemy team and can be shot from its mounted position. The Marking Dart can also be removed by the enemy, ending its powerful recon abil
With a roster bursting at the seems with charismatic and interesting characters, Valorant players are spoiled for choice. However, choosing a "main" character is one of the hardest aspects of the game. With such a diverse and interesting roster, each member of the Valorant cast is as interesting last the last. One of the more unique designs found in the title is the technology-savvy Cypher, who provides an under-utilized niche to the competitive scene of Hero Shooters. His trap-heavy playstyle is one of the most difficult to master but yields an oppressive and dominant presence when mastered to its full
It has been a running joke that Riot Games has not really earned the "Games" part of its title, since it only had the one massively successful MOBA in League of Legends . These days the company's ambition seems to be to move away from being a one horse house and expanding into new projects, including the new FPS game formerly known as Project A , now officially called Valor
Cypher - A tactical control character who excels at finding enemies. He can place a stealthed tripwire trap that slows, reveals and dazes, or toss out a remotely activated, slowing trap. His signature move is a placeable camera that can fire a tracking dart similar to Sova's drone, and his ultimate absorbs info from an enemy corpse to reveal all enem
This is important as an attacker or a defender, especially after getting a pick, keeping each site as equally covered as possible. Playing Default is particularly useful in the early rounds because it can reveal patterns in the opponent’s playstyle, such as rushing a certain area repeatedly, or attempting to flank in a certain
